We proudly write songs for the Under 10 set. Colors, and Counting, Centipedes and Snails, Germs and Toenails are the foundation for our silly tales. We use music as a metaphor for rainbows and sunshine. Alliteration is second nature to Us. Much of our work involves helping young minds succeed academically and developmentally. Rhythm stimulates cognitive function in young children. Repetitive motion and repetition of color names, numbers and letters develop memory skills. Watching a class of 20 kindergarten kids express their creativity with paints, crayons and imagination, prompted us to write Painting Box.

Look at my hat baby  Hi Kids, you look GREAT  Ms Laura's weeping?  This is a fashion statement???  watching TheBat Duo being so Silly  goofy wacky and whimsical

Lyrics to Painting Box

Painting Box

written by The Battersby Duo. (c) 2008

I’m a Painting Box; my friend is Mr. Green,

He’s the King of color land the greenest in his scene.

His subjects they all bow to him, he says what he means

His favorite food in the world is obviously the bean.

In the Painting Box Green’s neighbor’s kind of blue,

His wife is somewhat regal and his son is baby blue

He Likes to draw with pastels but only if they’re new

Is excellent in landscape art in all its many hues

In a Painting Box Blues neighbor is called red

He has a shock of hair and he likes to read in bed

His elements are awesome but often it’s been said

He’s fire to painting streaks of crimson in his head

The colors of this painting box are the colors of the world

Each one has a season. And a story to be told

We’re coat of many colors, and a palette full of dreams

We’re the colors of the world, we must be green

Complex in our color schemes, we’re not quite what we seem,

We’re blue and grey we mix all day we’re red and black and green

The Painter adds a dash of brown, and mixes it with blue

A Painting Box will help you mix a rainbow colored stew.

Chorus

The Bumble Bee Blues

Verse 1.

Well I'm a bum bum bumble bee, bum bum bumbling along.

Well I'm a bum bum bumble bee bum bum bumbling along.

Oh well I buzz around a bush, I buzz around a tree,

Razzmatazz I defy gravity,

and I want you to see...that I'm a bumble bee. bumble bumble  bum...ble

Verse 2.

Oh well I ain't got nothing to do, so I'm just buzzing around

I'm taking my insect daily recreation all around the town.

I buzz around my hive, I buzz around the door,

I buzz around the garbage can, that sits outside the store,

and I want you to see, that I'm a bumble bee...bumble bumble bum...ble

Verse3.

I keep a pretty hectic schedule a busy social butterfly am I.

I fly from weddings to engagements, wherever there's some honey I'll drop by.

And I particularly like to give everyone a fright,

by simply buzzing by their nose and dropping out of sight...

and I want you to see, that I'm a bumble bee. bumble bumble bum...ble

Verse 4.

Some people think I'm pesky, and a nuisance to their lives, I am.

I have a mission to disrupt, every picnic in this land.

But I'm the honey in your tea, a gentle bumble bee,

a flying ball of goodness. is my description of me,

and I want you to see, that I'm a bumble bee, bumble bumble bum...

The Painter. written by Tim Battersby (c) 2008.

I’m a simple music man; the words I use they are not long.

I try to paint a picture with the words within my song.

And little boys and little Girls can learn to sing along

When you Paint a pretty picture with your mind you can’t go wrong.

Faces green with a yellow nose, Reds on blue when you paint your toes

Drink white milk wear orange socks, spend your days in a painting box.

Happy days are the color red; purple lights swim in your head

The more you see you will unlock, the colors in your painting box

And yellow is the sun on high and blue is for the pretty sky

And green is for the grass in my back yard

The treasures in my painting box are the colors in my mind

The colors are for everyone to find

A Painting Box has everything; it has so many colored things

To help the painter paint his thoughts that flow from deep within

The simple touch of brush to paint can actually stimulate and let the little painter try

His best to recreate

And yellow is the sun on high and blue is for the pretty sky

And green is for the grass in my back yard

The treasures in my painting box are the colors in my mind

The colors are for everyone to find

I'm a Germ

Verse 1:

I started as a tickle in a little babies throat.

and developed rather rapidly when he didn't wear a coat.

 I then got passed around the house to John and Mary Sue;

who started an epidemic when they took me off to school.....I'm a Germ

Verse 2:

The Principal was angry, that I had come to School,

he said," now listen here you germ, you'd better obey the rules.

You're disruptive and incisive, my Children's health you've robbed"...

So I stared him in the eye and said" that's my job...I'm a Germ"

Verse 3.

Now one by one the Kids succumbed at John and Mary's school,

and even all the Teachers were feeling pretty blue.

Everyone was sneezing, their noses they did run,

but when the board of Supervisors called in sick my job was done, I'm a Germ...I'm a Germ

Verse 4.

Well my cousin the common cold is incredibly old.

Sneezing hacking coughing are the symptoms I'm told.

But a good old dose you see, from a Kid who's only three,

will make every Parent wonder, what they've done to deserve me...I'm a Germ...I'm a Germ

Teddy Bear Lullaby

Verse 1.

 Oh my Teddy Bear.

may be very old...

may just have one eye,

 but he belongs to me.

Oh my Teddy Bear...

well he talks to me.

and he tells me things

 that only good friends do.

Chorus.

And he's lived with me for always,

 and I know he always will;

and he hugs me when I'm feeling kind of down.

Well I've never seen him mad,

no I've never seen him frown.

I'm so glad my Teddy Bear's around.

Verse 2.

Oh my Teddy Bear...

well he dreams with me.

watches sunlight dance

upon my bedroom wall.

Chorus

And he's lived with me for always,

 and I know he always will;

and he hugs me when I'm feeling kind of down.

Well I've never seen him mad,

no I've never seen him frown.

I'm so glad my Teddy Bear's around.

Verse 1.

(G)We used to have a Cat,(C) who never said a word,

(D)The only sounds she ever made were(D7) rarely ever(G) heard.

(G)But sometimes when I fed her, I'd (C)feel like such a fool,

(D)She’d look at me across her plate, and(D7) give a great big (G) Moo.

 Verse 2.

(G)Now people from all over ,(C) loved our Buttercup,

(D)The best darn Cat that's ever lived, but (D7) one day she got (G) stuck.

(G) A Veterinary friend of mine came,(C)  rushing to the scene,

(D) Said," Gosh that Cats a bovine, a (D7) regular milk (G) machine."

(G)Well I must admit that I was just a, (C) trifle bit confused;

(G) I thought that Cows they went meow and, (C) Rabbits sometimes growl,

(D) But I was flabbergasted when I (D7)  learned my Cat's a (G) Cow.

 Verse 4.

(C) Well that Veterinary friend of mine was (G)  really pretty cool;

(A7)He enrolled my two-ton feline, in a bovinary (D)  school.

Learn to Ride my Bike

Verse 1.

Have you ever seen a kid on bike,

I gotta say it's really a sight.

When he's learning to ride on the gravel outside

He's riding in excess of one hundred and five

And Daddy is running at just ninety five...pant pant pant

Have you ever seen a kid learn to ride

Verse 2

Now Johnny wears a helmet as well he should,

And training wheels are soup of the day

He's got buffers and bumpers on elbows and knees

To help him when he hits his very first tree

To help him get through the too narrow-a-gap squeeze...(popping sound)

Have you ever seen a kid learn to ride

Verse 3

Have you ever tried to teach more than one

Let me tell you Mom that can be fun

'Cos one will go left and one will go right

And you're in the middle with your arms stretched out tight

And a lamp post is looming with you in its sights..(crashing sounds)

Have you ever seen a kid learn to ride

Verse 4

Have you ever seen a kid learn to ride

As confidence grows your fears subside

You draw yourself tall and breathe a big sigh

You say to your neighbor. "My Boys learned to ride."

And then in the distance you hear a big cry..aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh

Have you ever seen a kid learn to ride

Have you ever seen a kid learn to ride

Have you ever seen a kid learn to ride

The Citrus Song

Verse 1. Well I'm a Grapefruit, the King of Citrus drinks, I tend to be a breakfast fruit, I'm very often pink. I'm halved and I am sugared, divided in to chunks. Add a cube of ice, and I really pack a punch; I'm a Grapefruit.

Verse 2. I'm an Orange, the sweeter of the two; I'm naturally delicious, I'm very fragrant too. I'm frequently in taste tests, my juices are divine. Drink a few of me a day, and your sun will shine, I'm an Orange.

Verse 3. Well I'm a Lemon, I'm nothing like a Lime, People from all over, confuse us all the time. Just because we're sour, we do not make the grade. But add a pinch of sugar, and I am Lemonade' I'm a Lemon.

Verse 4. Well I'm a Pineapple, nothing rhymes with me, when I'm mixed with any juice, I'm sure that you'll agree. I'm sweet and I am tasty, tropical and true; even though my skin is sharp, I'll always welcome you. I'm a Pineapple.

Chorus. We're so tasty. like all our Citrus friends. Sampled individually, or rolled in to a blend. Sunshine is a factor in just how well we grow, so do us all a flavour, don't plant us in the snow...we are Citrus. we are Citrus.

Verse 5. I'm a Gourd I'm bored, this song is not about me.....

Verse 6. Well I'm a Satsuma, there's a nasty little rumor, I've no humor, but I am here to tell you, my job is to be eaten, not to be Buster Keaton; I'm Citrus to the core, but frankly I'm a bore; I'm a Satsuma.

Rachel

Verse 1.Rachel was a special Child,

with special needs and a great big smile.

Other Children looked at her,

and saw she was a different Girl.

Verse 2. Her world revolved around a Chair,

with great big wheels, and she sat there,

 every hour of every day,

watching other Kids at play.

Verse 3. But in her heart she's just like me,

with feelings, but her agony,

is simply that her legs don't work,

and she needs friends like you and me.

Chorus. She is just a little Girl,

whose courage takes her round the world.

She can do most anything;

 teach the world to sing.

Verse 4. Rachel was a special Child,

I could see it in her eyes;

every time she looked at me,

I had the feeling she could see

Verse 5. In to my soul she could read my mind;

she knew exactly what she'd find.

She was sweet and she was kind.

It didn't matter that she was blind.

Chorus. She was a frequent flyer with her mind.

She couldn't walk but she could run a mile.

She had more courage in her little hand...

that made me understand.
